A Reminder to Rejoice in His Sovereignty

It is by no means out of the ordinary, but I have been reminded on more than one occasion while reading scripture this week of the blessed sovereignty of God. The word of God is overflowing with examples of this truth. Here are just a few that I noted over the last few days.

In Matthew 11:27 Jesus said, "All things have been handed over to Me by My Father; and no one knows the Son except the Father; nor does anyone know the Father except the Son, and anyone to whom the Son wills to reveal Him." How thankful I am that I have been graced to know Him through divine revelation.

In Mathew chapter 12 we see Jesus exercising His sovereign will as He heals that man who was mute and blind. In Mather chapter 13 we read that God had granted to some to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven while to others it had not been granted. And in Genesis chapter 24 we have the great story detailing the sovereign selection of Rebekah to be Isaac's wife.

I know that many people have struggled to understand or accept the matter of God's sovereignty. We may be challenged to be discerning of the things that God has caused to happen and the things that He allows to happen but that He is sovereign is a truth anchored in scripture. Whatever the case, I am convinced that God would have us to rest in His sovereign will. By grace and through faith may we be Spirit lead to rejoice in God's sovereignty. In all of His wondrous ways, to God be the glory.
